AH Newsletter 1 04/10/2023
Dear Friends,
This is my first attempt at a newsletter in quite some time! Firstly, thank you for showing an interest in my practice, the support I receive as an independent artist always blows me away.
I want to keep this brief, but I thought maybe to start it would be good to give you a little perspective into my thinking in the studio/ the general creative space…
I’ve felt a shift in how I want to put myself and my work online, how important is archive v’s how important is it to be current and consistently churning out content? I hate to drone on about Instagram, but I’m finding, like I’m sure a lot of you are, that we are going to all realise soon (or have already) how poisonous and damaging it can be. I still use it as a creative tool in many ways, but I actually feel like it’s sucking something important out of me at the same time!
I’m also consciously aware of my energy outgoings when it comes to exhibitions and the way in which we allow others to use our identity, keeping agency of it seems to be more and more crucial. How do we survive as artists whilst staying truly authentic to ourselves and the way we create? The main questions I’ve been coming back to is why were you doing this in the first place and why has the perspective shifted? I’ve found that sometimes making my world a little smaller and introverted can be beneficial for the bigger picture.
Anyway news…
I’ve been quietly working away with a forward thinking and like minded design team on rebranding and building a new website, focusing on digital archives and easier access for clients whilst keeping agency of my visual identity. More on this and the team behind it soon.. in the meantime, I shall be breaking down my online shop and releasing the last of my archive sale. I wanted to show you my offerings before I post anything on the socials, some of these mono prints are from exhibitions this year, some will be from me clearing the studio. It’s unlikely I’ll being doing archive sales in this manor moving forward, and will be focusing on one on one client work and exhibiting and teaching. I do have some exhibitions coming up, I’ll send out a brief listing in another post.
As always all works are unique 1/1, and never reproduced.
